Prerequisite 

Champion’s Why is FINANCIAL LITERACY Important? is a required prior to taking this course. Completion is needed to receive the Certificate of Completion and Badge. 

Champion also recommends our basic math course, Subtracting Adds to Your Life, if you are a little rusty on adding and subtracting. It will support your learning for creating and maintaining a realistic budget. This is an optional course, so it is not a prerequisite. 

Champion’s Financial Literacy for Student Loans course has been created to help you understand the rights, responsibilities, and options for avoiding default for student loans. 

This course will provide you with knowledge to: 

  • Make wise decisions about student loan forgiveness and the consequences of such
  • Understand the short- and long-term consequences of student loan defaults
  • Understand how interest accrues and is charged to make sound decisions and reduce the cost of our loans
  • Understand the short- and long-term implications of each repayment schedule so you can make the best choice for your future
  • Temporarily reduce or delay payments when needed 
  • Avoid student loan scams
