Borrower Forms
Student loan borrowers have the right to apply for delayed, reduced, or forgiven payments. The forms below are provided for these purposes. Champion can support you in getting these approved with your federal loan servicer and we can also provide them to you with electronic signatures to expedite the approval process. IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT INTEREST!
- If you have a Subsidized Student Loan, you will not pay interest during approved periods of DEFERMENT including:
- Cancer Treatment Deferment
- Economic Hardship Deferment
- In-school Deferment
- Graduate Fellowship Deferment
- Military Service and Active Post Deferment
- Temporary Total Disability Deferment
- Unemployment Deferment
- If you have a Consolidated Loan, the portion that was a Subsidized Student Loan will not accrue interest during approved periods of DEFERMENT.
- During periods of Forbearance, interest accrues on ALL LOANS, even Subsidized Student Loans. When this accruing interest is not paid, it is CAPITALIZED, or added to the principal balance of your loan and you end up paying interest on interest. Capitalized interest is how student loan debt burdens result in higher loan balances than when you left school. Only use these options if absolutely necessary.
You can also take this into consideration:
- First apply for DEFERMENTS where interest does not accrue on Subsidized Student Loans.
- Then, apply for FORBEARANCE where interest does accrue and can be costly.
- If your CIRCUMSTANCES CHANGE and you can make payments earlier than approved in your deferment or forbearance, start making payments. There are time limitations for these temporary solutions and once you use them, you won’t have them as options when you can’t make payments.

DEATH CLAIM INFORMATION
If you have experienced the death of a loved one, first please accept our deepest condolences. A death claim can be made for a borrower and, for parent PLUS loans, for the borrower or student. You will need to collect specific documents to ask for a Death Claim Discharge.
Once you have the documents together, Champion will be honored to help you. For assistance, please call or text 480.947.7375 or email Su*****@Ch****************.com.
